Offenders on the Community Payback Scheme are cleaning up many areas in the borough.

A cycle path signposted 'Red Route' starts at The Look Out Discovery Centre and takes in sites such as Coral Reef, South Hill Park, Bracknell Leisure Centre and a number of schools as well as Bracknell railway station on its way to the town centre.  It is hoped it will encourage more cycling.  Other routes are planned.

Tug of War team

The Tug-of-War team from Bracknell and Wokingham College helped to raise £1027 for charity.

The Keep Trade Local networking event organised by Richard Knight, theFederation of Small Businesses East Berkshire Vice-chairman, at the Bull Public House was well-supported and considered a great success.  Further meetings are planned.  richard@focal.co.uk see Events

Paul Williamson of Harmans Water has raised £320,000 for disadvantaged children.

Mini gardens created at Oaklands School in Crowthorne and The Pines School in Bracknell are to be sent to RHS Wisley Gardens for the Budding Gardeners Competition.

By approval of the Queen, Heather Smith of Bracknell has been made a Member of the Order of St John.  Daniella Taylor, 17, of Holbeck, Great Hollands, has been crowned Berkshire Deputy Cadet of 2010.  Rebecca Brunel-Walker, John Hibbert, Kevin Sturge and Dennis Wildman, also from Bracknell, received Certificates for 500 hours each of community service.

Anne Nicholas, 79, walked 80 kms of Hadrian's Wall for charity.

Year 5 students from Cranbourne Primary School gave a presentation to the council on the speeding and parking problems at their school and they now have a lollipop lady.

Kraken of Bracknell won the Battle of the Bands Competition. A video on www.getbracknell.co.uk shows them performing

Aron Clarke, 15, from Sandhurst has won the 2010 Global Canvas Children's Art Competition, and has had his work on display in the Natural History Museum, London. One of the judges was David Shepherd, here, with his daughter.

The Bracknell Awards for Teenagers ceremony recognised the hard work of many youngsters in the Borough.

The Government Office has praised the work of Operation Lion Club which has reduced reports of anti-social behaviour in the Borough by 15%.

We can be truly proud of Wally Harris, 87, from Crown Wood who has been granted the Freedom of the City of London in recognition of his bravery in World War II.

Bert and Iris

Founder members of The Bracknell Forest Society, Bert and Iris Lacey, have celebrated their Diamond Wedding Anniversary.  They came from Peckham to Priestwood II in Bracknell New Town in 1958 then, after 23 years there, they moved to their present home in Harmans Water.

St Michael's C E Primary, Sandhurst, has been judged to be an 'outstanding school'.

Hug FM Radio, set up by a group of youngsters, has won the 2009 - 2010 Innovation Award from the NHS

Nick Hoult, 21, an actor, who attended Ranelagh School raised awareness of Christian Aid Week by seeing their work in Kenya.

Gemma Cumming from Crowthorne has been chosen to decorate one of 250 life-sized elephants in London for the charity Elephant Family.

Thanks to all the Borough Litter Pickers especially the Birch Hill team who have organised 53 clean-up sessions tidying South Hill Park, too.

The Zone is a new youth centre for 11 - 19 yr olds planned for Great Hollands opening this summer.
